Yöghund, Beau's Treat

The main reason why Beau, after 9 years of life, is still at his ideal weight is due to the fact that we don't feed either of our dobermans table scraps, typical grocery store dog treats, or other things that many dog owners feed their own. We also measure out their kibble food.

Our dogs typically eat raw broccoli, raw carrots, blueberries, bananas, and non-sugar filled organic peanut butter for treats.

On birthdays and other special days, the boys are treated to something different. Yesterday, both were given the standard birthday entree of a steak. But afterwards, something new - frozen yogurt that we found at Pet Supplies Plus. Beau and Bentley's eyes glazed over as they lost themselves licking this frigidly cold treat until the cup was empty.

I took a taste myself - and it was good. Tasted like pure yogurt, banana, and peanuts, without all the added sugar that frozen yogurt "for people" and most typical dog treats are made.

Yöghund, made by The Barking Dog, LTD., describes these treats on their website (here) as: Our Organic Banana & Peanut Butter recipe features potassium rich bananas, which are also a great source of the prebiotic inulin, along with peanuts for flavor and antioxidants. And of course, its primary ingredient is organic, low fat yogurt with live and active cultures, complete with all the benefits of probiotics.
